The lower chalet was built around the time of the mountain road (mid to late 1930s). It exists intact today. Opposite the chalet is a flat viewing area which previously had seating installed overlooking the spectacular view.

HERITAGE ASSESSMENT

In 2018 the Park’s trustees agreed to make the chalet (WPHH0040) a priority place for nomination to the Tasmanian Historic Register.
